The 2025-2026 school year was CML's 9th as an NCSM affiliate, and our numbers and participation continue to grow! This year, we saw leaders join us from more than 30 school districts, and many others joined us as consultants, vendors, and other leaders. The yellow circles in this cartogram indicate the districts that were represented at at least one CML meeting this year:
Credit for a large part of this increased participation goes to the work of the CML board. Darcy Harris served honorably as our president, juggling her time with CML with multiple shifts in her leadership role in her role with the NW BOCES. John Fischer wrapped up his 3-year term on the board (thanks, John!) while Amber Gardner and Maura Dudley each completed their first year. With the end of the 25-26 school year and the May CML meeting, Amber will now take on the role of president and lead us into the next school year while Erin Wahler-Cleveland joins as president-elect.
We want to thank all of you who shared something this year. That could have been something small, like offering up a favorite resource or yearly goal as part of our monthly introductions, or something bigger, like leading a section of professional learning for the month. Together, we learned more about math pathways, universal design for learning, ways to support elementary teachers, using digital tools, and classroom walkthroughs. Some of you participated in the CML book study of NCSM's Essential Actions, and welcomed Past NCSM President Mona Toncheff when she presented in April.
CML members also spent a lot of time learning about, discussing, and giving feedback for the high school mathematics standards revision. Thanks to CML's efforts, the standards improved from the draft to the final recommendations and were unanimously approved by the state board of education.
In all, it was another strong year for CML. The 2026-2027 school year promises to be another great one, and we'll see you in the fall.
