The Instructional Leadership Learning portion of the meeting focused on how leaders use structures like study cycles, walkthroughs, and learning walks to support educator learning and improve instruction.
- Erin Wahler-Cleveland (Roots and Wings Math) and Cory Urban (Manitou Springs) shared how math study cycles create a repeatable, job-embedded structure for teacher learning. Teams collaboratively plan, observe, and reflect on instruction, building collective capacity over time through a continuous improvement process grounded in their own classroom contexts.
- Patsy Burenheide (Weld RE-5J) described a system of instructional walkthroughs that prioritize short, focused classroom visits followed by immediate debrief and calibration. Cross-role teams use consistent observation structures and feedback loops to build shared understanding of effective instruction across schools.
- Darcy Harris (NW BOCES) highlighted how learning walks are used within an alternative licensure program to support teacher learning. Early career educators engage in structured observation cycles focused on classroom management and student engagement, using tools to identify trends and inform reflection and practice.
